Vendemias celebrate 60 years together

Guy and Ruth Vendemia of Austintown, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 6. They gathered with family at a special dinner in their honor.

Guy and his wife, the former Ruth Rentsch, were married at St. Brendan Church in Youngstown in 1953. They are presently members of St. Joseph Parish in Austintown.

Guy was employed as a teacher and athletic director for Liberty High School until his retirement in 1983. He is a charter member of the Liberty Sports Hall of Fame and is a member of the Curbstone Coaches and Trumbull County Retired Teachers Association. He is a veteran of World War II having served in the Navy and attaining the rank of Signalman Second Class.

Ruth was employed in the accounts payable division at General Motors in Lordstown until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of the Ladies Guild of St. Joseph Parish and is currently a member of the "Gals" club begun in high school.

They are the parents of Barbara (Michael) Pacak of Bellingham, Mass., and Bill (Maureen) Vendemia of Boardman. They have three grandchildren: Alex Pacak, Megan and Eric Vendemia.
