The first 2013 Summer Open House at the Little Red Schoolhouse is set for 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9. This free tour is a great opportunity to learn about Poland's history. The schoolhouse is filled with memorabilia about the early settlers of Poland, the schools, the historical homes and many vintage items from past generations. A member of the Poland Historical Society will be on site to answer questions and show items of historical interest.
If June doesn't work for visitors, additional Open Houses will be held the second Sunday of each summer month: July 14 and Aug. 11.
The Little Red Schoolhouse is located at 4515 Center Rd. (U.S. 224) at the Struthers Roadd intersection.
The next regular meeting of the society will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 18. At this meeting, participation at the Celebrate Poland activities on June 28 and June 29 will be discussed. This, along with the July 16th and Aug. 20 meetings, will be a business meeting with no program following the meeting.
