The Mission of Love, based in Austintown, has announced it is collecting items for those who were affected by the recent tornado in Moore, Okla.

According to Mission of Love founder/director Kathleen Price, monetary donations as well as donations of new comfort quilts are being accepted. The collection will be delivered by Price and a small group of volunteers who will be heading to Moore very soon.

"This is no time to turn away when so many are in need of your love and compassion in Oklahoma," Price said. "Mission of Love Foundation is going to make an effort to once again service the people in need by starting a Love for Moore campaign to collect monetary donations and new comfort quilts for those in need in Moore."

Price has also put together a list of items the victims of the tornado will need immediately. Those items include: diapers, sheets, towels, T-shirts all sizes (gently used and washed), dog and cat food, first aid supplies, water, Gatorade, gently used or new toys, plastic forks, spoons, cups and plates, toilet paper and paper towels. Price also is asking for children's summer clothes and shoes boxed and labeled as to size boy or girl. She asked that no other clothes be dropped off, except for the children in need.

Also needed are personal hygiene supplies including Advil, Motrin, Tylenol, children's Motrin, shampoo, deodorant, etc.

"We will be having drop off sites at Handel's Ice Cream stores in Austintown, Boardman, and Poland," Price said. "We are in desperate need of these supplies for the folks of Moore, Okla."

The Mission of Love is not new to the type of natural disaster relief. The group has delivered aid, quilts, homes, and money to the victims of natural disasters in Louisiana, Kentucky, Haiti, Sri Lanka, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Japan, and Honduras.

"Our Mission of Love's reputation speaks for itself, while doing this all-volunteer service work of love for over 25 years," Price said. "Please join our hands in order to extend our hands to those in need via our Mission of Love for the Love of Moore. I will personally hand deliver your donations of quilts and monetary donations to the real people in need."

Donations and quilts can be sent to; Mission of Love, 2054 Hemlock Court, Youngstown, Ohio 44515. Monetary donations can be made on the Mission of Love web site; via Pay Pal.
