Teens share special evening

May 16, 2013
By Kathleen Palumbo , Town Crier correspondent

The much anticipated event brought together special needs high school students from across the tri-county area for a magical evening none of them will soon forget.

Held Thursday, May 9 at Antone's Banquet Center in Boardman, this year's Special Needs Prom, now in its 18th year, according to Canfield High School intervention specialist Alicia Muzina, was the largest ever, having added students from both Beaver Local and Wellsville high schools. In addition, high school students from each of the participating schools accompanied the special needs students for their magical evening.

The event included dinner, professional photography, and a DJ to spin the students' favorite dance tunes, and was made possible through monetary, time, and services donations.

Kris Klempay, Halyey Ward, Trang Ong, Gabriella Thomas, Matt Wittman, Olivia Williamson, Victoria Vellano, Cristi Cardena, and Tarrian Cook, all Canfield High School students, took a break from dancing just long enough to capture a moment in time from the magical evening.
