Special to the Town Crier

Jordan A. Burns and Charles E. May, juniors at Poland Seminary High School, have been selected by American Legion Post 15 to participate in American Legion Buckeye Boys State.

Buckeye Boys State, which will be held June 9 to 16, at Bowling Green State University, is an intensive program on city, county, and state government, designed to acquaint participants with the operation of representative government and the rights and responsibilities of free citizens. Students learn by playing roles, and activities include legislative sessions, court proceedings, law enforcement presentations, and the drafting of laws and budgets.

The Boys State program was conceived by members of the American Legion, and is in operation in 49 states. The American Legion is the nation's largest veterans organization. American Legion Post 15 is located at 35 Cortland St. in Poland.
