The Canfield boys tennis team posted a 4-1 win over Lakeview last week to improve their record to 9-1 on the season.
In singles action, Ryan Kaleel fell to Lakeview's Aaron Paczak 6-0, 6-3. Canfield's Nic Debiec scored the comeback by defeating Zach Teffner 6-1, 6-2; and Canfield's Will Brown downed Lakeview's Drew Taylor 6-0, 6-0.
In doubles action, the Cardinal team of Ryan Yankush and Tyler Tareshawty took out Lakeview's Eric Rohrabaugh and Nate Erickson 6-1, 6-4. Canfield's David Hofsess and Hunter Todd shut out Andrew Mitcham and Will Pinkerton 6-0, 6-0.
In action on Monday, April 15, the team shut out Fitch 5-0, taking all five matches. In singles, Tareshawty defeated Fitch's Josh Herington 6-4, 6-4; Hofsess won over Fitch's Austin Prestridge 6-4, 6-2; and Canfield's Taylor Gorski downed Fitch's Taylor Phan 6-0, 6-1.
In doubles, the Canfield team of Alex Kan and Mason Mangapora went the best of three to win over Fitch's Brandon Fisher and Seth Donchese 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. The second match went two rounds with Canfield's Ernie Barkett and Matt Milstead taking the win over Fitch's Dom Alberti and Anthony Sarachene 6-3, 7-6.
On April 16, the Cards traveled to Trumbull Country Club to take on a competitive Warren John F. Kennedy team. Canfield's Will Brown took the only singles win by defeating JFK's John Nader 6-4, 7-6. Both doubles matches went to Canfield with the team of Yankush and Tareshawty posting a 6-3, 6-4 and the team of Hunter Todd and Kan winning 6-2, 7-5.
Keeping their rolling victories moving, the team took on rival Poland on April 17 and walked away with a solid 4-1 victory. The Cards gave up one singles match while Nic Debiec won a triple round 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Singles player Brown also won 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles, Yankush and Tareshawty win 6-1, 6-1 and the team of Todd and Hofsess closed the deal at 6-1, 6-0.
On Monday evening, April 22, the Canfield guys traveled to Howland and shut the door on the Tigers 5-0. In singles, Ryan Kaleel defeated Howland's Andrew Ames 6-3, 6-4; Debiec downed Dan Ames 6-1, 6-0; and Brown took down Dante Cornicelli 6-1,6-0.
In doubles, Yankush-Tareshawty downed Peter Glover and Matt Hardaway 6-1, 7-6; and Kan-Todd defeated Howland's Max Stychno and Mike Baker 7-6, 6-3.
The Canfield boys are now at 8-1 on the season.
