May 2, 2013

April 14 through 20 has been set aside by the National Association for the Education of Young Children as the Week of the Young Child and that made it special for the 75 pre-kindergarten children at Zion Preschool. To celebrate the week, the preschool brought in parents and grandparents who offered special talents from baking cakes and reading books, to giving musical performances.

"The purpose and focus of Week of the Young Child is to draw public focus to the early learning years," said Zion Preschool administrator Geniene Hankey.

The staff at Zion followed that focus and came up with activities that included a book fair, bubble and hat day, bike and fitness day, super heroes and kite day. Thursday was special person day when parents and grandparents came in to entertain the preschoolers.
