The Canfield boys tennis team is now at 2-1 after a win and loss in play last week. On April 9, they shut out Jefferson 5-0 then fell to a powerful Jackson team on April 12.
Scoring in the Jefferson game, played at home, were singles players Nic Debiec and Will Brown who each recorded two matches of 6-0, 6-0. Ryan Kaleel had to play a rubber match against Jefferson's Zach Mucci that ended in a triple-match score of 6-4, 0-6, and 6-0.
In doubles, Ryan Yankush and Tyler Tareshawty recorded a 6-0, 6-2 to win their match and the Cardinal team of David Hofsess and Alec Kan posted a 6-1, 6-1 for their win.
On Friday, the team took on a powerhouse Jackson team and fell 1-4. All three singles matches went to Jackson as did one doubles match. Canfield's only win came from the doubles team of Debiec and Brown defeating Jefferson's Ben Shaheen and Ben Nelson 6-1, 6-0.
