Canfield resident named Woman of the Year

The Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women's Association crowned Mandy Codespote as its 2013-2014 Woman of the Year on March 12. Codespote has been with the chapter since January 2008 and has been on numerous committees. Her mentor is her mother, Judy Codespote, who is a longtime member.

As a student in high school, Codespote worked at Zedaker's Stable in Poland, Barnes and Noble Cafe and Home Savings and Loan. Upon graduation, she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a vault teller for National Bank of California. She also worked in the Victims of Crime Assistant and Medicaid Department while in California.

After moving to Nashville, Codespote worked for MedAssist and then moved to Las Vegas where she worked in the VIP Department for Bally's and Paris Hotel and Casino.

Mandy Codespote of Canfield was named American Business Women’s Association Mill Creek Chapter's Woman of the Year.

She returned to Canfield and has been working for six years for CNAC, the finance company for JD Byrider. Codespote is also a part-time disc jockey for Shooting Star Mobile Djs, which is owned and operated by both her mother and brother, Cody, in Nashville.

Codespote has two brothers, Cody and Kevin and she lives in Canfield. This fall, she will be a representative for the Mill Creek chapter at the fall convention in St. Louis, Mo.

She was honored at the March meeting with a crown, a national plaque and ribbon to wear to conferences and conventions. During the year she will get special treatment from the club.

Also announced was the organization's annual Chinese Auction, which will be held at the Ursuline Center at 4280 Shields Road, from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 28. The drawing will begin at 3 p.m. For ticket information, contact Judy Codespote at 330-502-9413 prior to the event, or purchase them at the door. There will be gifts for children, men and women and special raffles of items greater than $25 in value. All proceeds go to the Education Fund. Presently, the chapter is sponsoring four young people attending schools such as Youngstown State, Kent State and John Carroll University.
