April 18, 2013
Special to the Town Crier

The Autistic Learning Foundation and A Way with Words Foundation are hosting their second annual Kids Shine 4 a Cure "Kids Helping Kids Day" on Saturday, April 27 at the Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road, Austintown.

They will be holding a 1K walk-a-thon at the park.

During the event there will be a kite flying contest, face painting and more. Arrive at the park at 11 a.m. and attendees can color a kite to fly. The kites are free and will be flown at 2 p.m.

After the kite flying and walk-a-thon, a concert in the park will star Tommy Cole as well as the ROcCk Children's choir. Chris Yambar, the writer of "The Simpsons," will be there signing autographs during this event.

The Autistic Learning Foundation is a nonprofit organization to help children diagnosed within the autism spectrum disorder. The group supports parents and help children find the skills needed to be independent by supporting research, purchasing devices to help them in daily lives and paying for therapies that many otherwise may not be able to afford.

A Way With Words Foundation supports the battle against childhood cancer.
