A cast and crew of 75 students are ready for "The Music Man" at 7 p.m. April 18, 19, and 20 at Fitch High School. They began rehearsals on March 1 and have perfected their roles, adding some younger talent with AMS performers.

"Using kids from AMS opens us up for more variety of musicals that call for younger performers," said Fitch director Irene Flowers. "It is hard to collaborate both the Fitch and AMS performers, but why not."

"The Music Man" does call for younger performers playing the role of children while the Fitch performers handle the adult roles. Sixth-grader Robby Marek plays the role of Winthrop Paroo. The hardest part, according to Flowers, is in coordinating with AMS to pull all the actors together at Fitch. Most of the Fitch performers went through the AMS program and the combination of age groups has worked out well. It also has helped in having AMS music director Bill Klein assisting in the performance.

Ready for “The Music Man” next weekend are Falcon players, in front: Sophia Longston as Zaneeta Shinn, Joe McGuigan as George Shinn, and Alison Rein as Eulalie Shinn. In back are Sabrina Segretario as Amaryllis and Alma, AMS sixth-grader Robby Marek as Winthrop Paroo, and Victoria Patterson as Mrs. Paroo. The production will go live on April 18, 19, and 20 in the Fitch auditorium.

"The Music Man" will feature 30 students on stage with a larger group handling the behind-the-scenes work. The performance will also feature Fitch singers Benjamin Burney, Brandon Starcher, Sean Richardson and Omar Aslam as a barbershop quartet. Those students have found their niche with perfect harmonizing.
