Lions partner with Lordstown plant

April 4, 2013
Special to the Town Crier

The Boardman Lions Club will extend its eyeglass collection effort through a partnership with the Lordstown General Motors Plant, placing five collection boxes inside the plant through the efforts of United Auto Workers Local 1714 President Dave Green, also a Boardman Lion.

The plant joins collection sites serviced by the Lions that include Center Middle School, the Boardman Library, Boardman United Methodist Church, Eye Care Associates, Sam's Club, Spectacle Spot, Walmart, and the office of Dr. Jeffrey Hirschl. They are under the supervision of Lion sight chairperson Betsy Koch.

More than 1,750 pairs of glasses have been collected by the club since September to be redistributed through LensCrafters to those in need.
