Austintown Speech places 5th at state

The 2013 Ohio High School Speech League State Tournament, co-hosted by Canfield and Boardman on March 1 and 2, gathered approximately 900 students representing more than 80 schools competing in 13 different events.

The awards ceremony, held at Canfield High School on Saturday, March 2, recognized the state finalists, top competitors in each event at the state tournament as well as the top teams competing.

Austintown Fitch placed fifth overall at the tournament with 36 points, and state finalists who received formal recognition at the awards ceremony included: Jarrett Kerpsack and Logan Pasquale, who placed first in Duo Interpretation; Josh Pittman, who placed in the top four in Lincoln-Douglas Debate; Albert Jordan, first place in Oratorical Interpretation; and Christian Roberts, sixth place in Oratorical Interpretation.
