BGMS Girls Down Warren
The Boardman Glenwood eighth-grade girls improved to 6-3 on the year by beating Warren, 34-17 on Jan. 17. Simone Comer led the way with a double-double having 12 points and 10 rebounds. Lauren Pavlansky had eight points, Aniyuh Spann and Alexis Stutz had four each, and Maryssa Wagner, Faith Clear, and Taylor Halowell had two points each. Charlotte Voytko and Alaina Hufnagel led the defense with two steals each and Kristen Bean pulled down two rebounds.
The seventh grade girls lost a close one to Warren Gold, 21-18. Leading scorers were Ashley Clark with eight, Cassie Stitt at six, and Savannah Beule and Carly Amendola with two apiece. Their record falls to 1-9.
BGMS Sweeps Warren
The BGMS 8th grade boys basketball team improved to 6-4 with a 40-38 win at Warren. BGMS was led in scoring by Bryce Richey with 17 points including a big free throw in the final seconds. Also scoring for the Spartans were J.R. Ryan with seven, Sean Birchfield with six, and Gaven Strines with four. Mark Smaldino, A.J. Scissum, and Anthony Davanzo each had two apiece.
The seventh-grade boys beat Warren Gold, 48-37. Jarod Wilson led the way with 11 points while Antonio Page and Holden Lipke scored eight and seven points respectively. Also scoring were Noah Falleti with six, Brian Terlesky and Billy Cammack at four, Brad Boerio and Evan Collins with three, and Alex Cardona scored two. The boys improved to 7-3 on the season.
