When the Youngstown State University Men's Rugby Club found its numbers decimated by college graduation, founder Shawn McLellen and the members created the Youngstown Steel Valley Men's Rugby Club to expand its membership.

According to current club President Matt Ruse, the Youngstown Steel Valley Men's Rugby Club currently includes 35 players on the roster, ranging in age from 18 to 40 and is always welcoming new members from the Ohio and Western Pennsylvania areas.

Sharing that no experience is necessary to join the club, "More than half the team never played before joining," said Ruse, who added that while league play takes place in the fall, the team plays three different seasons each year.
