For the third consecutive year, the Canfield and Howland wrestling teams met with All American and Eastern Ohio Wrestling League Division 1 titles on the line. Saturday afternoon, Jan. 12 in Canfield, the Cards (14-2) won the first five matches and never looked back in a 37-21 victory over the Tigers. Amidst the Senior Day celebration, it was freshmen Jake Esarco, Kyle West, and CJ Frost registering key pins for the Cardinals.
Victories by decision were had by Steven Hamilton at the 160-pound level, John Poullas at 170, Sam Socha at 182 , and Hayden Smith at 195, to give the Cards a 12-0 lead.
Esarco made it 18-0 with a second period pin at the 220-pound level. Howland's Bell won a 6 -3 decision at heavyweight to put Howland on the board. West answered for Canfield with a first period pin to make it 24-3. Lucarelli's victory at the 113 level closed the margin to 24-6 before Steven Daprile made it 28-6 with a four-point major decision. Senior Jake Dunbar sealed the Canfield win with a 12-7 decision at 132. Frost's pin at 138 provided Canfield's final team points. Gabe Stark captured his 100th victory with a pin.

Canfield, who unveiled camouflage uniforms to honor disabled vets, will see Howland again in three weeks as the teams battle for the crown at the EOWL tournament.
