This weekend, Touch Heaven Canfield Church on North Broad Street will feature an internationally-known Christian singer, songwriter and speaker in Kathy Troccoli. She brings her music as well as her inspiring stories that will leave people with a smile and a refreshing outlook on life.
"We invited Kathy to have a concert event with us in Canfield," said Angelo Fresquet from Touch Heaven Worldwide. "She is not a regular, but we will be having her with us in various events. For 2013, we have several events being planned for the Canfield area and we likely will be holding some, due to the size of the event, concert or conference at the Covelli Centre."
As for Troccoli's performance this weekend, it is something she said offers a great opportunity in a perfect atmosphere.

Kathy Troccoli will be performing at Touch Heaven Canfield Church at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 with her mix of Christian music, stories to inspire and a little humor to bring a smile.
"Touch Heaven Ministry graciously contacted my staff about having me join their platform for stadium events," Troccoli said. "The Canfield event is going to be a very a sweet concert and time of sharing in an intimate setting ...so great to do both kinds of events from city to city."
Troccoli got her start in 1982 as contemporary pop was taking center stage in Christian music. After shopping for a record deal, the founders of Reunion Records decided to create their own record label to help Troccoli launch her musical career. The launch was a success and this Italian girl from New York saw her initial recording became the fastest selling debut album of any female artist in the history of Christian music. That recording included her first radio hit "Stubborn Love."
In addition to her success in Christian music, Troccoli made quite an impact in the mainstream arena as well, scoring a top five hit with Everything Changes. She also had a top 10 single with the Beach Boys, entitled I Can Hear Music. Her success saw her dream come true.
"I always wanted to sing," she said. "Karen Carpenter's rich alto voice inspired me."
Since that successful start, Troccoli has spent the past 30 years traveling the world and bringing more than just her music to the audience. She began sharing stories of inspiration with her audience.
"In the '90s, I started sharing about the triumphs and tragedies in my life," Troccoli said. "I spoke about how comforting God is. It resonated with people."
Troccoli has come a long way since her musical debut, but her passion for sharing the gospel and her life lessons through music has not waned a bit. In 2012, she celebrated 30 years of music and ministry. Troccoli has 22 recordings to her credit, mixing both pop/gospel to jazz flavors on several recordings. From the big band sound on "Sentimental Christmas" and unique combo arrangements on "Heartsongs" to the beloved and intimate worship on "Draw Me Close," Troccoli displays her diverse talent being a velvety songstress to a powerful encourager.
Her accolades include 22 recordings, 17 No. 1 radio hits, 19 Dove Award nominations, and three Grammy nominations. Her newest CD "30 years/songs-The Kathy Troccoli Collection" is a tribute to the timeless classic of her career.
Besides her success as a singer, Troccoli has also developed into a highly-sought-after conference speaker. In 2012, she launched a new intimate women's event called "Among Friends" in which she invites nationally-known authors, speakers, humorists and Bible teachers to join her at various locations across the nation.
"My hope is to give them a safe place to let down the walls, enjoy a good laugh, be themselves and walk away with renewed courage to take on life's trials," Troccoli said. " I yearn for all of us to leave knowing that God is not done writing our stories."
As if her music career and "Among Friends" events aren't enough, Troccoli also finds time to serve in mission fields in Africa, India and Central America through "Life Outreach International."
Troccoli said she doesn't ever take for granted the success bestowed upon her.
"I am exactly where I am supposed to be. There is such freedom in that," she said. "Now I truly understand that my singing is just a part of what God has created me to do. To encourage, motivate, and inspire what a privilege."
She also said that she inspired by those she has touched.
"I've seen thousands of lives changed," she said. "I have found that my music has brought courage and peace in hard times."
While Troccoli now resides in Nashville, she said she will always be a New Yorker.
