The Ohio Department of Transportation proposes to improve Ohio 46 in Beaver and Canfield Townships, with construction set to begin in the spring of 2013. The project proposes the replacement of two bridges/culverts located approximately one-half mile south of the Ohio 46-Leffingwell Road intersection and approximately one-half mile south of the Ohio 46-West South Range Road intersection.
The proposed project will not impact any cultural resources, suspect hazardous waste sites or result in substantial impacts to ecological resources. The project will not result in substantial impacts to the environment either individually or cumulatively. In compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended (codified as 36 CFR 800), ODOT requests information regarding the presence of any known cultural resources in the vicinity of the project. Cultural resources include prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, historic bridges, historic buildings, sites and districts.
The estimated construction cost is approximately $907,500. A minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction shall be maintained on Ohio 46 at all times, except for a period not to exceed 60 days when the project will require the closure of Ohio 46 to replace the structure located approximately one-half mile mile south of the Leffingwell Road intersection. In addition, Ohio 46 will be closed for an additional 30 days to replace the structure located approximately one-half mile south of the West South Range Road intersection. The official detour route for the Ohio 46 closures will use Ohio 11, U.S. 224 and Broad Street. These two closures will not occur at the same time and will not be permitted prior to May 20, 2013. Access shall be maintained to adjacent properties at all times during construction of the project.
Questions and/or comments regarding this project may be submitted by Dec. 17, 2012, to ODOT District 4, 2088 South Arlington Road, Akron, Ohio, 44306.
