Boardman Lions Club offered a donation to help bring Rachel's Challenge, a program to equip and inspire individuals to replace acts of bullying, violence, and negativity with acts of respect, kindness, and compassion, to Boardman Center Middle School on Dec. 4, according to school Principal Randy Ebie, far right. Lions Terry Shears, Kris Dailey and Laura Sobotka presented the check last week. Rachel’s Challenge is based on the life and writings of Rachael Joy Scott, the first victim of the Columbine school shootings in 1999. The local event will be presented twice in the morning at 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. in the middle school. The community at large is invited for an evening program at 7 p.m.
