Girl Scouts make clean sweep at museum

November 14, 2012
By J.T. Whitehouse , Town Crier

On Saturday, Nov. 10, the members of Girl Scout Troop 80420 in Canfield showed up in force at the War Veterans Museum in Canfield to clean glass.

Last year, the event started with the troop teaming up with the American Legion Post 177 Ladies Auxiliary. With the size of the museum, there were way too many glass display cases for the Auxiliary members to tackle alone in preparation for Veterans Day, so the Girl Scouts lent the extra hands needed to get the job done.

"This is the second annual cleaning," said Auxiliary member Mary Jane Bondesen. "The girls do a good job."

Andreanna Tocicki and Andrea Klempay helped clean glass at the War Veterans Museum on Saturday. The girls are members of Girl Scout Troop 80420 in Canfield.

After the girls completed their task, they gathered in the museum's library where they heard a talk on being a veteran that was presented by Capt. Milton Kochert, retired U.S. Navy, and member of Post 177. Following the talk the girls were given a goody bag in appreciation of their effort.
