The Boardman Lions Club remembered Lion Barbara Acerra, who died last December, with a tree-planting ceremony in Boardman Park Thursday, Oct.11. Family members and Lions gathered for a service at the magnolia tree planted in the island area outside the Community Center.
King Lion Terry Shears officiated the tribute, with contributions from Lions Jaclyn Rausch, Bill Rausch, and Patti Shears. All present were invited to add a shovelful of mulch to the base of the magnolia, which could reach an adult height of 50 feet.
Thirty people were in attendance. The tree was secured through the efforts of Lion Joyce Mistovich and planted by the Boardman Township Park staff.
