The Town Crier

Fitch Girls Golf

The Fitch girls golf team fell to Canfield 205 to 172 at Diamondback Gold Course on Sept. 24. Lead scorer for the Falcons was Rachel Williamson with a 46, followed by Jamie Rasor at 50, Jackie Choma with 54, and Chelsea Raymer at 55.

Volleyball

The Fitch girls volleyball team fell to Howland 24-26, 19-25, and 23-25 on Thursday, Oct. 4.

The leading server for the Falcons was Alana Callahan with seven digs, Maura Bianco with nine kills was lead attacker, lead setter was Tiffany Rapovy with six assists, and lead defender was Alana Callahan with 18 digs.The JV posted 25-15 and 25-16 to win their match.

The Fitch girls fell to Boardman 15-25, 7-25 and 20-25 on Saturday, Oct. 6. The JV team fell to Boardman in a series of three close matches at 24-26, 26-24, and 24-26.

On Sept. 18, the Fitch volleyball team hosted Poland and fell in a best of five. Scores for the series were 18-25, 25-20, 24-26, 25-21, and 11-15. Leading server for the Falcons was Cali Mikovich with 10 points and five aces. Lead attacker was Maura Bianco with 30 attempts and eight kills. Leading setter was Tiffany Rapovy with 50 attempts and 13 assists. Leading defender was Alana Callahan with 28 serve receptions and 26 digs. Leading blocker was Taylor Herman with two blocks. The Falcon JV team took a best of three against Poland with scores of 25-8, 23-25, and 25-11.

8th grade Blue Volleyball

The AMS eighth-grade Blue volleyball team brought home two victories last week. On Monday, they faced Boardman Center and won in two sets (25-12 and 25-22). On Wednesday, the girls traveled to Niles Middle School where they posted sets of 25-12 and 25-13 to capture the win.

Leading servers for the Falcons were Maria Beltram and Aleis Sallee. Controlling the net was Cami Hefner and Morgan Coleman.

AMS-Red volleyball

On Sept. 17, AMS Red volleyball team fell to Poland in two sets of 15-25 and 18-25. On Sept. 19, the team fell to Howland in a 2 of 3 series of 21-25, 25-22, and 23-25.

Girls Soccer

The Fitch girls varsity soccer team fell to Green 0-2 on Saturday, Oct. 6 to move to 7-7-2 on the season. Goalkeeper saves were made by Jessica Scott and Haleigh Seman. The JV team won their match 1-0.

The girls shut down Beaver Local 5-2 on Oct. 3 with two goals scored by Maddy Miller, and points also from Kaelyn Puhalla, Krista Martin, and Maia Totterdale. Assists were made by Jayme Ritchie, Madison Hefner, Meghan Shonce, and Kimmy Muccio. Fitch was 7-0 for corner kicks and 15-2 shots on goal. No JV game was played.

The girls fell to Canfield 5-0 with goalkeeper Jessica Scott posting seven saves to Canfield's 3 on Oct. 1. The JV team also fell to the Cards, 1-2.On Sept. 19, the Fitch girls varsity soccer team downed Niles 5-0 at home. Goals were scored by Fitch's Lauren Bower with two, Kaelyn Puhalla, Meghan Shonce, and Mandi Koch. Assists were made by Shonce, Bower, and Puhalla. Goalkeeper Jessica Scott posted 10 saves and the team was 4-0 for corner kicks and 11-10 for shots on goal. The JV team won their series against the Red Dragons, 3-0.

On Sept. 22, the Fitch girls hosted Lakeview and won a narrow contest 3-2 to move to 6-3-2 on the season. Bower scored two goals and Krista Martin had one. Assists were made by Puhalla and Jayme Ritchie. Fitch outperformed Lakeview 3-2 in corner kicks and 12-9 for shots on goal. The JV match was cancelled due to weather conditions.

Boys Soccer

On Saturday, Sept. 29, the continuation of the Fitch boys varsity soccer game versus Canfield will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Falcon Stadium. The game originally began on Sept. 6 but was suspended in the first half with 25:54 remaining on the clock. There was no score and the game will continue with an Austintopwn throw-in on the 20 yard line in the offensive half of the field. Austintown had kicked off to start the game so Canfield will kick to start the second half.
