The Fitch girls soccer team is wrapping up its regular season this week with their final games at 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at Fitch. They will be taking on Green and will be wearing pink as the team works to raise funds and awareness for the battle against breast cancer.
The annual Pink Game began last year with then-junior Jessica Scott. She noticed all the other Fitch girls sports teams had a pink game and the girls soccer team was the only one that didn't.
"Last year Jessica brought it up to me," said her mother Kim Scott, who also served on the board for the girls soccer boosters. "I brought it before the board and it was approved."

Austintown girls soccer team seniors Krista Martin, Jessica Scott, Meghan Shonce and Megan Miller are pretty in pink as they prepare for the second annual Pink Game against Green on Oct. 6 at Fitch. The girls will be taking on Green as they raise funds for the fight against breast cancer.
Last year, the girls raised $700 at the game that went to the breast cancer center at St. Elizabeth Hospital. This year, the team and boosters hope to equal or exceed that amount and will donate the proceeds from the game to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Cancer Center.
To help raise the funds, the boosters will hold a Chinese auction, a 50-50 drawing and will be selling pink T-shirts.
The Pink Game will pit the Falcon girls against Green. The varsity team, going into this week is at 6-5-2. The JV team is at 6-3-1.
