Photo special to the Town Crier
In celebration of National Assisted Living week, “The Art for the Ages,” the residents of Victoria House Senior Care Center were delighted with a cooking class on Monday, Sept. 10. Amanda Housteau, a representative from the Culinary Art Center, demonstrated to the residents several recipes for quick appetizers and salads that they would be able to prepare in their own apartments. Residents also participated in making fresh mozzarella balls to enjoy with their salads. Amanda, with the assistance of resident Dr. Fred Friedrich, “zesting” the lemons demonstrated the preparation for a light lemon cake with blueberry frosting. The residents were each gifted with an apron, a book of recipes, and a plateful of goodies, including the orange and tomato salads demonstrated, the lemon cake, oatmeal and cranberry cookies, and a Canoli.
