On Sept. 5, the seventh-grade team lost to West Branch 18-25, 25-22, and 25-27. They also fell to Salem 13-25 and 18-25 making their season record 1-5. Leading the team in aces was Zoe Sims and Briawna Santiago.
The eighth-grade team also fell to West Branch 9-25 and 19-25. They also lost to Salem 8-25 and 9-25 making their season record 2-4. Defensive leaders were Emily Hurl and Charlotte Voytko.
Boardman Glenwood's seventh-grade volleyball team lost to AMS Blue, 27-29 and 20-25. Leading scorer was Rachel Hritz with floor leaders being Ashley Clark and Riley Zawrotuk.
The eighth-grade team defeated AMS Blue, 25-22 and 25-18 improving their record to 2-2 on the season. Leading scorer was Lexi Stutz with floor leaders being Kristen Bean and Nicolette Martino.
The seventh-grade team lost to Center on Aug. 30, 16-25 and 22-25. Floor leaders were Rachel Hritz and Zoe Sims.
The eighth-grade team defeated Center, 25-11 and 25-18. Lead scorers were Taylor Halowell and Charlotte Voytko.
On Aug. 29, Glenwood's seventh grade team improved by defeating AMS Red 25-18, 22-25, and 25-17. Lead scorers were Ashley Clark and Riley Zawrotuk.
The eighth-grade team fell to AMS Red 19-25 and 20-25. Floor leaders were Taylor Halowell, Emily Hurl, and Brittany Mathews.
Glenwood's seventh-grade team dropped their first match of the season on Monday, Aug. 27 to Poland, 17-25, 25-23, and 23-25. Leading scorers were Zoe Sims, Rachel Hritz, and Brianna Santiago.
The eighth-grade team lost, 9-25 and 11-25. Floor leaders were Charlotte Voytko and Faith Clear. The Spartans are coached by Kallie Rogers and Alyson Keiffer.
Boardman Glenwood lost their season opener to the Warren Raiders at a rain-soaked Mollenkopf Stadium by a score of 20-6. For the Spartans, Noah Falleti returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown.
On Sept. 5, the BGMS football team lost to AMS Red, 32-0 at Falcon Stadium in Austintown. Boardman Glenwood is now 0-2 on the season and will host P. Ross Berry at Spartan Stadium on Sept. 12. The Spartans are coached by Vince Carnavale and Nick Colla.
The boys cross country team pulled off a controversial second place finish at Girard on Sept. 5. Scoring for the boys were Nathaniel Ams, Matt Maroni, Mark Moradian, Austin Bacho, and Chris Petrus.
The girls team ran a tough race to come in third overall beating Center for the first time this season. Scoring for the girls were Cassie Stitt, Casey Zaitzew, Savannah Beule, Allison Janak, and Kayla Welton.
The girls' cross country team placed first at the Sweeney Invitational at Champion on Saturday, Sept. 8. Casey Zaitzew, Cassie Stitt, and Savannah Beule finished in the top 10 with second, third, and 10th place finishes respectively. Lauren Pavlansky and Allison Janak had strong finishes to the seal the first place finish.
In the boys' race, Nathaniel Ams made a strong showing individually with a third place finish overall out of more than 80 runners.
