August 17, 2012
Town Crier

The Mahoning County OVI Task Force has announced that a sobriety checkpoint will be held in Mahoning County on Saturday, Aug. 18 to deter and intercept impaired drivers. Assistant Chief Scott Weamer said that officers will be conducting a roadside check of drivers for alcohol and drug impairment. Saturation patrols will also be conducted throughout the weekend.

"It is our intent to inform people that officers will be vigilant in detecting and apprehending impaired drivers. We want to impress upon those who will be consuming alcohol to plan for a designated driver or to make other arrangements

to get home safely, " Weamer said.

Support in operating the upcoming sobriety checkpoint and saturation patrols will be provided by participating agencies of the Mahoning County OVI Task Force, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and the Ohio Department of Transportation.
