The Saxon Club in Youngstown was the setting on June 14 for a ceremony at which Boardman Lions Club installed a slate of officers for the 2012-2013 season. Accepting the responsibility of offices were Terri Wilkes, secretary; John Landers, treasurer; Judy Jones, director; Jaclyn Rausch, director; Ron Paris, first vice president; Bill Rausch, third vice president and tail twister; John Woodside, district governor elect; Mary Shobel, lion tamer; Laura Hancock, membership; and Patti Shears, director. Also seated but not pictured were Terry Shears, king lion, and Kris Dailey, director.
Boardman Lions Club recently presented pins acknowledging 12 months of perfect attendance/participation to 19 members which is more than half of the club membership. Recipients of the award were, in front, Patti Shears, Mary Shobel, Betsy Koch, and Judy Jones. In the back row were Bill Rausch, Terri Wilkes, Ron Mistovich, Ron Paris, Joyce Mistovitch, Joni Blase, John Landers, Laura Hancock and Jaclyn Rausch. Absent from the picture was Kathy Collins, Karen Kannal, Terry Shears, Andrea Snyder, Lee Ward and Mandy Ward.
Boardman Lions Club congratulated four-year member Mary Beth Shobel who was presented with the District 13 D Lions Eye Care Foundation Knight of the Blind Award at the group's meeting held on June 14 at the Saxon Club. The recipient of the Knight of the Blind Award has demonstrated accomplishment in the area of sight conservation or meaningful work with blind and/or visually impaired. The recipient's contribution can be a single activity or project or numerous contributions over a period of time. Pictured are Shobel and District Governor-Elect John Woodside.
Board Lions Club congratulated six-year member Laura Hancock, who was presented with the LCIF Melvin Jones Fellowship at the group's meeting held on June 14 at the Saxon Club. The Melvin Jones Fellowship, established in 1973, is named for the Lions' founder, and is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism. The recipient becomes a model because of her exemplary service to the club and the Boardman community. Pictured are PDS Bob Booher and Hancock with her fiance Gary Sobotka.
