Deanna Hosey, an Austintown florist, introduced the Rotary Club of Austintown to the “Cash Mob Youngstown” movement at last week’s meeting. She talked about the necessity of small business to sometimes be ready to “think outside the box.” She stated that when the economy takes a downturn, one of the first businesses affected is usually a florist and the Cash Mob concept could help change that. Cash Mob is a grassroots, community-led movement that supports local businesses. Members will vote for and elect to visit one small business per month, show up on a special day and each spend $20 at that store. The business must have products that have a wide appeal to both men and women. It must be locally owned and operated within a brick and mortar retail location dedicated to that business’ services.
