Eight students out of 1,371 entries from area Mahoning County public, private, and parochial schools won the Recycling Division of Mahoning County Green Team's 2012 poster contest. Each poster described a recycling or anti-litter theme. All of the first place posters were made into placemats to be used at area restaurants and nonprofit organizations' special meals. On Thursday, May 24, the students' winning achievements were rewarded by the Mahoning County commissioners at the county courthouse building. Terry Bishop, Dominion's representative, presented each winner with an American Express gift certificate from Dominion, and certificates from the Green Team were given to the winning students.
The winning students and their schools are: Garrett Bueno, Jackson-Milton Elementary; Reagan Sienkiewicz, Poland North Elementary; Camryn Norton, West Boulevard Elementary; Abbie Shoemaker, Poland Dobbins Elementary; Brooke Brocker, Canfield Village Middle; Brianna Sebastian, Poland McKinley Elementary; Patrick Centifanti, Poland Middle; and Olivia Boyd, St. Nicholas School.
