Austintown Township will be hosting a vehicle auction at the township garage on Ohltown Road at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 14. The vehicles scheduled for the auction include retired police cars, road trucks and vehicles confiscated by the police and Drug Task Force.
"The vehicles are what brings people out," said Township Administrator Mike Dockry.
Included in the list that was approved late in May are a 1997 Dodge Ram 4x4 truck, 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS, 2000 Ford Crown Victoria, 2004 Chevrolet Malibu, 2007 Ford Crown Victoria with 141,806 miles, 2007 Ford Crown Victoria, 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, and a Gestetner copier model 3235.

At Monday's township meeting, trustees added an old road department dump truck that is diesel powered and two snow plows.
Dockry said the auction is open to the public, but those wishing to bid need to sign in.
They just show up that day, register, and are issued a number," he said.
Only those with numbers can bid on the vehicles. The high bid takes it and the winner can pay for it on the spot, or has one week to settle up, according to Dockry.
"They will have one week to pay for it and pick it up," he said. "If they don't, it will go back on the block."
He said proceeds from the auction will go to the department that produced the vehicle.
While the township does use an online auction site for smaller items, Dockry said they have always held live auctions for vehicles.
