Friends walk for friends

May 31, 2012
By Kathleen Palumbo , Town Crier correspondent

Would you walk a mine for a friend? As a means of launching their bullying and dating violence awareness and prevention program, Operation Keepsake held its Campaign Kick-Off Walk-a-Thon on Saturday, May 19 in Boardman Park, where participants were willing to walk three.

Now offering its curriculum in middle and high schools across northeastern Ohio, under the direction of Executive Director Peggy Pecchio, Operation Keepsake has officially initiated its Friends 4 Friends Campaign as they continue to champion today's youth to develop healthy relationships and strong character.

Locally, Operation Keepsake is offered to youth organizations as well as in Austintown, Boardman and Canfield schools, many of whom participated in the event, where The Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown's drum line performed, and appearances were made by Mahoning County Juvenile Court Judge Theresa Dellick and state Rep. Ron Gerberry.
