World War II veteran Cecil Belmares, who was visiting from California, said he was one of the first to hit the beaches of Normandy during the famous World War II invasion. He and other veterans were on hand Monday for the annual Memorial Day Parade that traveled from the Marcs plaza on Mahoning Avenue to Fitch High School.
