The Poland Athletic Department has scheduled two mandatory parents meeting for middle school and high school students who will be playing sports this coming school year. The first meeting is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 29 for parents of students who are planning to play a high school fall sport. The second meeting is set for 7 p.m. May 31 for the parents of Poland Middle School students planning to play a middle school sport this coming school year.
"The meeting is mandatory for all parents who have student athlete," said Poland Athletic Director Brian Banfield. "We try to encourage as many people as possible to attend. The OHSAA has implemented a fine to parents who do not attend the meeting."
The meetings will be held to cover both the policies and procedures for the upcoming fall season. Banfield said they will include the ones from his local office as well as from the Ohio High School Athletic Association.
"We will [also] be covering the athletic fee that the school board as instituted," Banfield said.
The meetings are an annual event that is held prior to the start of each sports season. It helps parents understand what is expected once the season starts.
"These mandatory meeting have been in place since 2004," Banfield said.
Both meetings will be held in the high school auditorium and will be hosted by Banfield.
