Achieving a superior rating and perfect score of 40 points, Holy Family School eighth-grader Brennan Bizon, the son of Don and Heidi Bizon of Boardman, was awarded a cash prize in chemical engineering at this year’s 63rd Annual State Science Day in Columbus.
Determining that in using paint additives he could lengthen the life of house paint, Brennan’s project, “Can I Make a Paint Better,” involved designing an experiment to test the elasticity and adhesion of the paint by using rubber particles to modify the binder.
With his HFS Science teacher Charlotte Eskay expressing her pride in his accomplishment and her amazement at his modesty, Brennan shared that he is fascinated by the scientific method and the whole thought process involved in figuring things out.
