Canfield's Boy Scout Troop 25 was busy during April as well as two of its leaders being recognized by the Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America.
Seven members of the troop participated in this years 30th annual Mill Creek MetroParks Earth Day Cleanup by cleaning along the roadside and into the woods on both sides of the road along W. Golf Drive from Shields Road to U.S. 224 in the park spending several hours.
The weekend of April 21 had two different things going on for members of the troop. The Scouts of the troop spent the weekend camping out and participating at the BTM Clays facility in Carrollton, learning shotgun shooting. Also on Saturday, April 21, two leaders of the troop were recognized with special awards at the Greater Western Reserve Boy Scout Council's Recognition Event. Mike Kupec received the Silver Beaver Award -- the highest honor a Boy Scout Council can award an individual for service to youth and Scouting over a period of time.

Boy Scout Troop 25's camping weekend in April at the BTM Clays facility in Carrollton included breakfast preparation on Saturday morning by Scouts Donny Duda.and Michael Ramunno.
John Wolboldt was recognized with the National Eagle Scout Association's Outstanding Eagle Scout Award for his service to the Canfield community with many different organizations over many years of service. Wolboldt is the first recipient of the Greater Western Reserve Council to receive this award.
Troop 25's upcoming calendar includes a backpacking and camp-out weekend at Minister Creek, Pa., and the Canfield Memorial Day Parade in May, a Survival Camp in June, the Canfield Fourth of July Parade and Summer Camp in July at Seven Ranges Scout Reservation in Kennsington, Ohio, and a visit to the Gettysburg Historic Battlefield and Historic Hike in Gettysburg, Pa., in August.
