Canfield High School graduate Tim Calhoun, class of 2010, was named Hiram College's Athlete of the Week recently. The sophomore infielder/catcher is batting .500 at the plate, including his second home run of the season in the doubleheader against Kenyon College. He also scored a team high three runs in addition to a double and RBI. Defensively, he finished the week with a perfect 1,000 fielding tallying 16 putouts and an assist.
For the season, he played in all 34 games and started 33 of them. He ended the year with a .267 batting average and leads the team in runs scored at 23. He also tied for the team lead in home runs with two and in doubles with seven.
In addition, he recorded 19 RBIs, placing him third on the team, and was second in walks with 17. Defensively, Calhoun has a .982 fielding percentage, alternating between catcher and first base with 192 putouts and 21 assists.
