Hilltop Elementary fourth-graders Joey D’Apolito, Katie Jesko, Ethan Scalzo, Andre Cerneka, Abby Palmer, and Hannah Edwards brave the Monday storms to help plant a Buckeye tree in the school’s front lawn as part of Arbor Day in Canfield. Prior to going outside, the students under the direction of music teacher Tom Scurich sang the songs “Ohio is My Home” and “Beautiful Ohio” during a ceremony in the school. City Councilman Andy Skrobola represented Mayor William Kay by reading a proclamation declaring Monday as Arbor Day in Canfield. The parks department assisting in planting the Buckeye tree, and also planted eight other trees around the city. Shown in back are Canfield Park Board members Bob Monkler, Mark Eddy, Nancy Brundage, and Nick Rosian.
