BHS alum tough on defense

Boardman High School class of 2010 graduate Doriyon Glass was awarded Defensive Player of the Year honors for Gannon University in Erie, Pa., for the 2011-2012 women's basketball season. Glass started as a red-shirt freshman in all 29 games this season, averaging 20 minutes per game. She averaged 6.2 points per game, 4.6 rebounds per game, 2.2 assists per game, and 1.3 steals per game. She shot 44 percent from the field and 72 percent from the foul line. Gannon Lady Knights finished the season with a 23-6 record advancing to both the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament and the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The team lost to 2012 NCAA Division II National Champs Shaw University in the second round. Doriyon is a pre-law major currently earning a 3.75 GPA. She is the daughter of David and Dr. Dorothy Collins of Boardman.
