The engagement of Nancy M. Herron of Boardman and James R. Hanek III of Austintown is being announced by their parents. The bride-elect is the daughter of Glen and Judith Herron of Salem and parents of the prospective groom are James Jr. and Linda Hanek of Austintown.
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Salem will be the setting for the couple's exchange of vows during an open ceremony at 2 p.m. Aug. 4. Invitations will be issued for an evening reception in their honor at Das Dutch Village Inn, Columbiana.
Miss Herron graduated with a bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University and master's degree from Chatham College in Occupational Therapy. She is an occupational therapist at Akron Children's Hospital in Boardman.

Mr. Hanek is a high school biology teacher at South Range High School. He is also the head golf coach and baseball coach at the high school. He earned a bachelor's degree in education at Youngstown State University and master's degree in education from Walden University.
