Author and counselor Marilyn Burns of Boardman will be at Barnes and Noble in Boardman from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 21 to sign "Lost No More...A Mother's Spiritual Journey Through her Son's Addiction," released in 2010 and "Now I Lay Him Down To Rest" that was released through Warren Publishing in 2011.
"Lost No More" is about her son, Christopher Burns who died on April 24, 2007 of a drug-related heart attack. It details Burns' spiritual growth during his years of battling addiction and since his untimely death.
Chris Burns was a 2002 graduate of Boardman High School and became addicted to OxyContin and other drugs after a car accident left him with chronic pain. Chis Burns is given writing credits in the book because it contains his original writings, artwork, voicemails and text messages to give readers a perspective into his life and struggles.
"Now I Lay Him Down to Rest" is written for children and adults who have lost someone that they love. The main character in the book, Ryan McMichaels uses his spiritual beliefs to help find the strength to accept his father's sudden death. This story is written to help the reader understand how faith and love can bring people through very dark times in life.
Burns will be giving a short lecture on Believing in Divine Intervention before the signing begins. For more information, visit www.lostnomore.us.or call Barnes and Noble at 330-629-9436.
