Tennis ready to hit court for new season

Ryan Calcagni focuses on returning the ball to his teammate during a volley recently. Though the weather was 40 degrees with a cold wind, Calcagni and his team went through their workout.

Poland tennis player Garrett Gardner uses his forehand shot with top spin to sail the ball over the net. Gardner and teammates practiced for about an hour and a half recently as they prepare for the season.

Doug Pogacnik is going into the season as the top singles player for the Bulldogs. Pogacnik goes through his workout on Monday, March 26 at the high school anticipating the season's beginning.

Seniors Mitch Dinopoulos, Panaviotis Constantine and Doug Pogacnik are all looking forward to this year's competition on the court. First-year coach and former student-athlete Annie Marian from the class of 1999 enjoys strengthening the skills of this year’s athletes. Last year’s tennis coach John Hritz will coach the girls this fall, while newcomer Marian will coach the boys this season.
