Dog day evening in Poland

March 22, 2012
By Kathleen Palumbo , Town Crier correspondent

The day was Thursday, March 15th; the placePoland Seminary High School Fieldhouse. The questionsabounding.

Would the Pittsburgh Steelers excel on the court as on the field? Would the Bulldogs bark prove to be worse than their bite? The answers to these queries and more were no doubt on the minds of the more than 1,300 fans present when six members of the Pittsburgh Steelers recently visited Poland, taking on members of the Poland Union Elementary School staff and members of the community.

Four periods later, both teams had reason to celebrate as the event's proceeds would benefit Union Elementary School and upcoming programs. While the Bulldogs suffered a 93-74 loss, they, and their loyal following will always be able to say unequivocally that the Pittsburgh Steelers have in fact gone to the dogs.
