Lester C. "Bud" Harmon, 85 passed away at his winter residence in Naples, Fla., on March 12, 2012. He was born April 4, 1926 in Youngstown, and was the son of Lester and Geneva Harmon.
Following his graduation from Scienceville High School in 1944, he served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. Bud furthered his education at the University of Illinois and then Youngstown College. He worked at the William B. Pollock Company and IBM Corporation before joining Adcraft Engraving Company. He was the last remaining owner of the original Adcraft Engraving Company. In 1975, he became president of Adcraft Division of Davies Can Company, a subsidiary of Van Dorn Company in Cleveland.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his first wife Elaynne Woods Harmon, and brother Leon Harmon.
He is survived by his wife Athena Harmon whom he married August 30, 1983, sons David (Linda), Todd (Shari), daughters Jill Harmon and Kelli McDevitt, stepchildren Dean (Janie) Fliotsos and Steli Buchanan (Tim), grandchildren Laura, Erica, Jeff, Scott and Matt Harmon, Maggie and Kate McDevitt, step-grandchildren Alexandra, Alaina, Melina and Dean Fliotsos, Ben, Luke and Nick Buchanan.
Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 24 at The First Presbyterian Church in Salem, and a memorial service will follow from 11:30 a.m. to noon. A celebration of life luncheon will follow at The Salem Golf Club.
