Pen mightier than sword for HFS students

The Holy Family School Power of the Pen teams, both of which were coached by language arts instructor Joy Huber, recently competed in the district tournament at Howland Middle School.

The seventh-grade team members, who won a trophy for placing third at the competition included Patrick Brennan, Hannah Frisone, Ellie McDanel, Emilee Mulhall, Tessa Snider, Morgan Wardle, and alternates Arielle Kreuzwieser and Michael Masternick.

Individual honors in seventh grade went to Tessa Snider, who won third place, and will advance to the regional competition in May, as will Patrick Brennan and Morgan Wardle.

The eighth-grade team, which placed fourth in its division, included members Michaelina Appugliese, Nicholas Braydich, Allison Christopher, Jenna Perchak, Isabel Stoeber, Brianna Thompson, and alternates Kara Okular and Evan Leek.

Also receiving trophies at district competition were eighth-graders Brianna Thompson, fourth place, and Allison Christopher, first place. They competed at the regional tournament on March 3.
