Poland Seminary High School Girls Soccer Team member Sheila Brooker signed her letter of intent with the University of Findlay last Thursday. She plans on continue a long soccer career with the Oilers while working on her major in human resources.

Brooker said she started playing soccer at the age of five. She started out with the Poland Youth Soccer League and expanded into travel and club soccer.

"I loved soccer from the start," Brooker said.

Madison Brooker was joined by her parents Mark and Sheila Brooker last Thursday as she signed her letter of intent to continue her soccer career with the University of Findlay Oilers.

She was very serious about that comment and proved it by playing year-round and non-stop, even at the high school level. She played for Cleveland United, a premiere soccer club that required a lot from Brooker. She would have to get out of school and travel to Cleveland, work out, then return home to get some rest before school the next morning.

"It made for many long nights," she said.

At Findlay, Brooker will be on a partial-ride scholarship as the school doesn't offer full rides. She hopes to either play forward, as she did for PSHS, or midfield. As for what she will miss, she replied, "I'll miss the rivalries we had with other schools."
