Friday, Jan. 13 marked the 31st Annual Honors Band festival of the Ohio State University School of Music, for which more than 215 students from across Ohio applied.

"Of those applicants, 125 were selected to perform with this very prestigious ensemble," according to Michael Kelly, Jr., Canfield High School band director, who added that CHS was represented with the selection of juniors Michael Burkett on trumpet and Hayley Ward on alto saxophone and senior, Alicia Smith on oboe.

"Alicia Smith furthered Canfield's distinction by being selected as principal, or first, chair player of her section," said Kelly.
