The Boardman boys indoor track team competed at Kent State University on Saturday. The meet was the first of the season for the boy's team.
Highlighting the Spartan success was junior Nathan Jones who finished 10th in the 200 meter dash in 23.69 and sixth in the 60 meter dash in a time of 7.18 seconds. Also in the 60 meter dash was senior Ricky Williams placed 14thin a time of 7.40 and in the 200 meters sixth at 23.44.
Also on Saturday, junior Peter Stafford placed fifth the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:00. The 4x800 meter relay team of sophomore Alan Burns, freshman Juan Santiago, sophomore Justin Maroni, and junior Sam Sheronovich placed 3rdwith a time of 8:57, while the second 4x800 meter relay team of junior Ryan Key, Stafford, sophomore Trevor Leyden, and freshman Kostas Kasamias placed 8th.
In the 1600 meter run Santiago was eighth overall with a time of 5:00, while Burns was 13th with a time of 5:04 and Maroni 14th with a time of 5:07. In the 400 meter dash senior Michael Moxley was 14th overall in a time of 55.15, he was followed by sophomore Ivan Adu-Poku in 15th place with a time of 55.22.
Sheronovich finished seventh overall in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:10. In the shot put senior John Kuczek was 5th overall with a throw of 44 feet 1 inch and classmate Darien Williams was 8th with a throw of 40 feet.
The Spartans will next compete at the new Watts Center on the campus of Youngstown State University this Sunday at 10 a.m.
