Photo special to the Town Crier
Guest speaker for the Rotary Club of Austintown's first meeting of the new year was Amy Miklandric, coordinator of volunteers from MVI Hospice Services, which serves Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties. This company was founded in 1998 by a pharmacist and a social worker to meet the needs of the terminally ill, providing pain management when curative treatments can no longer benefit them. The word 'hospice' means place of shelter or guest house. Part of their special service is done by volunteers who provide respites for caregivers, light cooking, errands, conversation time, and some volunteer professional services. President Deanna Spirko presented Miklandric with a certificate of appreciation and a book to be donated to Woodside Elementary School Library.
