The Boardman Orchestra Department presented its Winter Orchestra Festivals Dec. 21 at the Boardman Performing Arts Center. The Classical, Chamber and Symphony orchestras performed under the direction of Michele Prokop, Bill Amendol and Tim Tuite. During the concert, there were two senior soloists, Rachael Bishop playing cello and Anna Kasamias playing the piano.
Rachael Bishop is the daughter of Cheryl and David Bishop. She has studied cello for eight years. She studied under Randi Yazvac for four years, then with Chrissy Lucivjansky for a year and a half, and is currently studying with Michael Gelfand. Rachael has been a member of Symphony and Chamber orchestras for the past four years. She has also been a member of Project Mayhem, and the St. Charles Chamber Orchestra. She recently was a member of the pit orchestra during Boardman High School's production of "Cats".
Anna Kasamias is the daughter of Eleni and Athanasois Kasamias. She has been studying piano for the past 12 years. She has studied under Jenny Conti and Sean Baron, and is currently studying with Fanny DiDominico. In addition to piano lessons, Anna also attends theory classes and competes in the National Piano Guild, the Youngstown Musical Arts Festival, and the National Federation of Music Clubs. Anna is a violinist in Boardman High School's Symphonic and Chamber orchestras. She has also been playing in the Youngstown Youth Symphony Orchestra for the past two years.
