Photo special to the Town Crier
The Austintown Lions Club has had a busy year. The Lions were involved in eye screenings at the Canfield Fair, gave two scholarships to Fitch students and supported the Eyecare Foundation, Eye Research Foundation, Lions Clubs International Foundation, Amigos International Relations and Diabetes Foundation. They recently assisted the Salvation Army to raise their needed funds and paid for eyeglasses and exams for those in need in Austintown. The club’s involvement contributed to it winning the District Lions Public Relations Contest. Their fundraisers included a Sweetest Day Rose Sale, a 5-K Race and a Candy Day. The Lions finished off the year of 2011 with the Lioness Club, spouses and friends with a Christmas Party at the Austintown Community Church on Dec. 12. Pictured are Austintown Lions Club members, Glenn Ringer, Don Hoezel and John Facemyer, assisting the Salvation Army with bell ringing at IGA.
